Former Residents
From B.J.
"I felt such a great sense of camaraderie, love, hope,
and sanity at Crossroads. Everyone there is willing to give
a lot of themselves to get little more than the satisfaction
of watching the program of recovery at work in return. All
of these marvelous feats are accomplished at a very reasonable
cost, in a unique residential setting, and with an extremely
supportive staff."
"For me, and a lot of others, Crossroads is the place
to do a lot of hard work on oneself, to find out who we are
and in many ways learn how to live out lives, to discover
that we all have the ability to feel the emotions that we
hide for so long, and to continue to learn about sobriety
and the many benefits it has to offer us."
From K.S.
"Crossroads has been the chance of a lifetime for me!
I want to thank you and the staff for the best and most productive
year of my life."
"Treatment was an introduction to being sober, the real
work started when I moved into Crossroads."
From M. J.
How can I define the miracle of Crossroads? I had never been
to Minnesota, and I had no idea of where I was. Sharron, the
director, told me there was a lake just three blocks away,
where I could sit on a park bench, feed the ducks and relax.
I soon settled in and begin to work on my recovery program.
I knew how to gamble, but I didn’t know how to stop.
The miracle was that I was given the tools and support I needed
and I stopped. I haven’t gambled in 2 years.
From D.P.
"Crossroads, for me, was and is a miracle. Please believe
me when I say I would not be alive today without that aftercare
program."
"Crossroads is the family that took a frightened, lonely,
confused, and miserably unhappy small girl who didn't want
to live; who had forgotten her dreams; and believed she was
alone in the world. They showed her how to dream and believe
that she can make dreams come true; they probed her with their
love and guidance so she might be able to love and guide herself
with pride and respect."
From P.H.
"I arrived with no expectations, no self esteem, no
money, no hope. And I'm leaving here with all of those..."
"I have a new found appreciation for all things, as
well as my hopes for a sober future."
From B. L
I was so uncertain about coming to Crossroads, but my wife
said I would not be allowed to come home. I am married with
3 children and a beautiful home. I worried about how I it
would feel to not be with my family. To my utter amazement,
I grew to love the people that I lived with at Crossroads.
They were there when I was at my lowest moment. I spent several
weekends with my wife and kids, and after 6 months of counseling
and support I returned home to my family. Crossroads was a
life-saving experience.
From B.G.
"As far as my experience there, I can only say there
is a strong possibility that I would be dead now if not for
the help I received there. Crossroads residents are treated
as the adults they are."
From Anon
"First of all, that treatment is just the start of the
road to recovery. It gets you sober, but what keeps you sober
are the aftercare programs, like Crossroads. For a lot of
people it is the first real place they can call home."
"I owe my life to the time I spent in Crossroads. I
know it made the difference for me."
From D.H.
I couldn’t believe how I fit into the community of
Crossroads. I had always felt like an outsider and a loser.
All I knew how to do was to hang out with the guys and smoke
pot. Because of Crossroads I found a new way to live that
had purpose. My self- esteem grew, I enrolled in college and
now have a degree in business administration.

Family
From Mr. and Mrs. G.
"Our daughter came to you a year ago as a "hopeless"
drug abuser. Once a down-hearted demoralized junky, she is
today a caring, beautiful, mature young woman, drug free for
more than a year, ...moving into her own apartment, holding
down a job and going to college. It's nothing short of a miracle!"
From Mr. and Mrs. A.
Our son was so out of control we didn’t believe that
anyone could reach him. He started using marijuana at age
13 and progressed to shooting heroin. He had been in and out
of trouble with the law and we feared that one day he would
be dead or in prison. We were desperate to find help. Finally,
after completing his seconded treatment, he was referred to
Crossroads… help had arrived. He met others like himself
and developed lasting friendships. He worked on other problems
besides his addiction and now has 5 years of sobriety. Words
cannot fully express our gratitude to the program and staff
of Crossroads.
From Mr. J.C.
"I could see a great change in my daughter during her
time there. She came out of Crossroads quite a self-assured
person with a positive feeling about herself, all of which
takes more time to accomplish than can be done in the four
weeks of primary care."
"Needless to say, myself and all the members of my family
are most pleased and forever grateful to Crossroads."
Mrs. M.
My husband and I heard about Crossroads from a friend of
the family. We checked out the website and spoke to the counselors
where our son was in treatment. They had wonderful things
to say about the program. Our son went for an interview and
was accepted for admission. The next day we saw the facility
and met the director. We were so pleased with what we saw
and heard. It was such a relief to know that there was a safe
place for our son to live after treatment.
From Ms. P.S.E.
"As a psychologist with years of experience working
with recovered alcoholics, I am deeply impressed with the
competency and appropriateness of Crossroads program. You
provide a service to this community of individuals that is
truly invaluable and unavailable any place else."
"...as a resident in your program our daughter learned
a great deal about taking responsibility for herself and about
developing autonomy, perhaps for the first time in her life.
Crossroads seems to empower recovering addicts to begin to
think and behave in new and healthy ways by clearly expressing
faith in their ability to do so and by providing the nurturing
and guidance - - tough love - - that is so vital to them during
this period. It is a delicate balance of caring and pushing
without taking over."
"I can only express my heartfelt gratitude to you for
being there for her when she so sorely needed this special
environment."
From Mr. and Mrs. K.K.
"My wife and I were very impressed with the physical
facilities and even more with the caliber and dedication of
you staff. To say that the work you are doing is wonderful
and the best that can be obtained for this type of rehabilitation
would be 'gilding the lily."
The dedication and professionalism of your staff is absolutely
astounding. I only hope that more of this type of facility
is available not only in your area, but in all areas of the
country. I traveled half-way across the continent in order
to see your work first-hand and to partake of its benefits."
From Mr. T. G.
"I have thought many times about the abundant devotion,
dedication, and love so deeply exemplified by you and your
fellow staff members. You are a constant inspiration to the
patients and their loved ones."
"I feel good about the future for our son, but yet realize
there are no guarantees, only hope that this is a new beginning.
I do know and feel the he has received the best professional
help and treatment available."

Treatment
Centers
From Hazelden Center
"We know at Hazelden that treatment is not a "quick
fix" and at our aftercare arrangements are an integral
part of every patient's treatment plan. It is important to
us that our patients' aftercare be congruent with our treatment
philosophy.
"What can I say? Your staff is wonderful! Your dedication
to providing high quality, respectful and affordable services
is more than appreciated--it's invaluable."
From Fairview Recovery Services
”For more than 30 years, Fairview Recovery Services
has been a leader in providing hope and healing to individuals
and families dealing with chemical addiction. For virtually
all that time, we have referred young adult men and women
coming out of primary treatment to Crossroads. At this point,
the number is around 2,000. Your program makes all the difference
for these newly sober people as they explore ways to live
without chemicals – often for the first time in years.
At Crossroads former patients of Fairview Recovery Services
have learned a great deal about taking responsibility for
themselves and about developing autonomy. Crossroads seems
to empower recovering addicts to begin to think and behave
in new and healthy ways by clearly expressing faith in their
ability to do so. The combination of affordability, the physical
surroundings, the counseling program, the on-site meetings,
and fellowship with the other residents makes Crossroads a
place of nurturing and guidance at a time when those newly
in recovery need all they can get. It is a delicate balance
of caring and pushing….without taking over.”
I continue to be impressed by the competency and appropriateness
of the Crossroads program.
From Mercy & Unity Hospitals
“There are those programs that because of their different
attributes, become referrals of preference. One of these programs
stands alone. Crossroads Residential Aftercare has many desirable
qualities for a referent. I could easily list their convenient
location, flexible lngth of stay, qualified staff, and their
accepting both men and women. Though these qualities are desirable,
what makes Crossroads my hands down favorite is their success.
I have seen lives change there. So many of the patients I
have referred to Crossroads have come back thanking me for
the receommendation.
"My job is made easier because of Crossroads, and knowing
that any referral I make there will greatly improve the patient’s
chance at being successful at staying sober and improving
their lives.
